Hello
My name is Maya Moore, and I am a graduate from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. I was a double major in Finance and Business Management with a minor in Sustainability. Ever since I was 16, I’ve always been driven to fight against beauty product waste and help others who don’t have access to these products. Our mission confronts this issue by gathering beauty products around the nation and providing them to shelters to reduce waste and provide beauty products to people with low incomes.
More About Our Mission
Our initiative tackles two major issues: the affordability of beauty products and the growing concern of product waste. We recognize that many beauty products, whether it’s hair care, skincare, or makeup, often go unused and eventually get thrown away, contributing to waste. At the same time, there are countless individuals in need, particularly those experiencing homelessness, who lack access to these essential items.
Our vision is simple yet impactful: we collect new and gently used beauty products from households, conduct quality testing to ensure they meet FDA safety standards, and redistribute them to homeless shelters across the country. By doing this, we aim to reduce waste while increasing accessibility to beauty products for underserved communities.
Beyond donations, our long-term goal is to raise awareness about sustainable consumption in the beauty industry and encourage brands and consumers alike to rethink their approach to product waste. We believe beauty should be accessible to everyone, and through Sustainabeauty, we are redefining what it means to be both beautiful and sustainable.
